One of the oldest and most famous Hollywood film studios still in use, Universal was formed in 1912 by Carl Laemmle. In 1914, he bought a 230-acre ranch at the east end of the San Fernando Valley, and this became the world’s first studio created specifically for the making of feature-length films. Over the next century, Universal brought the first films of talents such as Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood and Robert Zemeckis to audiences around the world. There are four Universal Studios theme parks, in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan and Singapore which also bring fun and delight to millions of people every year.
