Book Gift Ideas
Getting a book as a gift is always special. You can't really give an e-Book in the same way and you certainly can't write a message inside the cover. While giving novels can be nice you run the risk of people not liking it or having read it. Our book selection is a little different. We have books on all sorts of topics that work as well as a coffee table piece or a book for the loo as they do as something to turn to for a laugh, inspiration or a little bit of of it all.
We think books make amazing gifts and we have something for everyone, including you because you need a pressie too!

We have the Ultimate Sneaker book for the trainer fans, a Little Book of Massive Cock Ups and so much more. Getting a book as a present is so much nicer than a voucher and don't pretend you hadnt just considered doing that.

We Heart Books
E-reader vs traditional book
It wasn’t so long ago that traditional books were having an NDE (near death experience). The Kindle launched in 2007 and the world was amazed - 100's of books worth of stories held in a tiny plastic unit, weighing next to nothing! To begin with, we thought we’d never go tech, but it turns out that certain features of e-readers are pretty appealing (hello £1 novel / incredibly light on the tote!)
Initial sales of the Kindle were mega, with the first release selling out in hours. E-readers continued to see a good take-up until about 4 years ago when the tide began to turn and a return to print began…
Sometimes only a real book will do
Don’t get us wrong – e-readers are great (holiday packing will never be the same again), but there’s something about the smell of a real book and the pleasure of turning the page that can’t be beaten. You can’t fold the corner down on an e-book or flip through to see how many pages you’ve got left to go (37% remaining just doesn’t give us the same feels), and you can’t pass your copy on to a friend or slot it into your shelf with satisfaction when you’ve finished.
Books as things of beauty
We’ve started celebrating books again as beautiful objects, and as something to be desired in their own right. Publishers are rising to the challenge too, printing books with gorgeous arty covers and edge-painted pages. The rise of #bookstagram with over 36 million posts of gorge books, colour coordinated shelves, dogs with books, and cosy reading corners shows how many of us are going back to traditional hard and paperbacks – after all, you can’t really take a shelfie with your e-book!
